I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t know this was even a holiday until my wife texted me a few minutes ago. But what a great concept!
I’ve written in the past on the topics of self care (I’ll put the links at the very end) and am glad that self-care is getting some recognition.
Self-care is not only healthy for mind, body, and spirit; it improves quality of life.
I have the privilege of working at a mental health agency that takes self-care very seriously. We get an hour paid lunch break every day. I use mine to walk to the library where I read and write (like I’m doing now). I love the fresh air and sunshine I get on these breaks and I usually come back to work refreshed and ready to continue tackling my to-do list. We’re also going to be starting a company-wide 30-day challenge for self-care within the next few days!
Here are my top ways that I practice self-care daily:
- 40 mins of yoga and stretching in the morning
- Audio books or podcasts while trying not to die on Interstate 95
- Getting as much sun as possible. I even had a sunroof installed on my car recently.
- 30-50 mins of exercise in the evening
- At least 8 hours of sleep each night
- Writing at least 3 blog posts weekly
Remember to do something for yourself today that helps you recharge! What are your favorite ways to practice self-care? Share in the comments.
